Moej zabaan- sanen ehsaasan henz khushbu, how beautifully someone explained why it is important to keep our culture and language alive. Your mother tongue indeed defines who you are. It is your identity; let us not forget that!

I hope all Kashmiris, living in Kashmir or any other part of the world, will enjoy the songs in this book, as much as I did compiling them for this book. Listening to Kashmiri songs and transcribing the lyrics revived the memories of my beautiful birthplace, Kashmir. I hope your experience while singing these songs is as pleasant as mine.

My wish is that my efforts in compiling this book of songs will help our future generations connect with their roots long after we are gone. I envision a Kashmiri child, hundreds of years from now, feeling similar joy and pride in singing Bumbro Bumbro as all of us feel today.
